Picture Planner: A Cognitively Accessible Personal Activity Organizer
Thursday, October 18, 2007 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
This session will demonstrate Picture Planner, an icon-based personal activity organizer designed for cognitive accessibility. Picture Planner is designed to facilitate activity management by individuals with little or no reading ability and those for whom typical user interfaces are too complex. These features include the use of multimodal icons providing image, text, and text-to-speech information, single-click operability, and metacognitive support for the information management challenges experienced by many users with cognitive disabilities. It synchronizes schedule contents with Windows Mobile 5-based handheld computers. Field test results will also be presented.
